The Year Before Kindergarten
The Dragonfly classroom is our Pre-K program — the exciting final year before Kindergarten. Building on the strong foundation children develop in the Butterfly classroom, we raise expectations alongside our children's growing confidence, curiosity, and skills.
Dragonflies dive into hands-on learning across all areas of development — working independently, in small groups, and as a class. Our goal is simple: to send every child off to Kindergarten as a capable, curious, lifelong learner who is ready to thrive.
What We Focus On
Every activity in the Dragonfly classroom is designed to build the whole child.
Early Literacy & Math
Pre-reading and beginning math activities are woven throughout the day, building the academic foundation children need for a confident Kindergarten start.
Critical Thinking & Problem Solving
Children are challenged to think independently through hands-on activities that encourage exploration, experimentation, and age-appropriate problem solving.
Communication & Language
Rich language and literary experiences — including daily read-alouds, discussion, and group activities — develop vocabulary, comprehension, and expressive communication skills.
Social Skills & Relationship Building
From individual work to small group collaboration, children practice cooperation, empathy, and the social skills they'll rely on throughout their school years.
Independence & Decision Making
Children are given meaningful choices throughout the day, building the confidence, responsibility, and self-direction that make for a strong, independent learner.
Kindergarten Teacher Partnership
We meet annually with local Kindergarten teachers to align our curriculum with what's ahead, so every Dragonfly walks into their first day of school truly prepared.

Hands-On Every Single Day
In the Dragonfly classroom, children are never passive. They build, experiment, create, and collaborate — because we believe the deepest learning happens when children are actively engaged.
Activities are designed to work at three levels: independently, in small groups, and as a class — giving every child the chance to shine in the setting where they learn best.
